About this place
At Kurofuneya, fish makes a natural starting point. The sashimi selection includes tuna, salmon, yellowtail, sea bream and striped jack, while rock oysters and fresh sea urchin also appear on the menu. One diner felt the fish had improved in flavour after a refurbishment and recalled that the sashimi had no unpleasant smell. Another meal paired sashimi with charcoal-grilled fish and grilled fish collars, offering a few different ways to enjoy seafood at the table.
A past lunch report describes a seafood rice bowl topped with sashimi and okra, served with miso soup containing plenty of daikon. It looked a little small at first, the diner said, but proved filling by the end of the meal—a memorable example of the lunch offering at the time.
There are small plates and other dishes beyond seafood, including chicken-skin gyoza, eggplant baked with cheese and a large pork-belly skewer with garlic. They offer variety for a table with different tastes. Kabosu and ginger chūhai are listed alongside beer, wine and cocktails, making the menu suited to an evening of drinks with sashimi and small plates.
This izakaya is in Katta, Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka, and accepts reservations. It is one option for a dinner centred on sharing several fish dishes.
